Hollywood Fringe 2017: Robot Monster the Musical
Dana returns to the Hollywood Fringe Festival yet again as Johnny in the world premiere of Robot Monster the Musical!
Bob Leggett of Indie Voice Blog said, "Best part of the show was the performance of Dana DeRuyck as little Johnny." Audiences hail her performance as "convincing," "wonderfully obnoxious," and "a hoot with hilarious facial expressions, strong singing, and just, well, she was fun to watch."
Hailed as one of the greatest bad movies in the annals of film history, the 1953 cult sci-fi classic, “Robot Monster” is a beloved fan favorite for its complete absurdity, hammy acting, charming naiveté and – most of all – for its famously tortured space gorilla.
But more than just an infamously “bad movie,” the film has a charming and unpretentious sincerity that’s so appealing in our frenetic age.
With 16 original songs, the musical includes everything current and new fans demand from a show about a space gorilla sent to earth to destroy the human race. Will he succeed? Find out this June at the Sacred Fools Mainstage!
